Safelight Berlin Double XX-L

Safelight, one of the labs here in Berlin, gets 100m pancakes of Kodak Double-X (monochrome motion picture film) and then rerolls it into 35mm canisters and sells it under their own name. The same process that CineStill uses for BWXX, but at €3 cheaper per roll, and supporting a local lab in the process, the choice is a no-brainer.

Being a cinema grade film, it's incredibly sharp and has wonderfully cinematic shades. Under a controlled environment the results are really beautiful. It doesn't however have the exposure latitude of other B&W film stocks, and suffers quite a bit if you don't nail the exposure... something I definitely didn't help myself out with by shooting in the snow!

Still, I'm really happy with the results and look forward to shooting it again in easier conditions.
